Monday Update - 07 JAN 2008

311.0

Well, I guess I eventually had to post something. To say that the last 2+ weeks have been miserable would be an understatement. For reasons that I will not go into here, I have been extremely down. And that has led to a lack of exercise and an abundance of eating. Which then just gets me down even more.

I should have seen it coming. In my last post, I talked about the great week I just had and how I was looking forward to starting 2008. My "Keep Moving Forward" is also coming back to haunt me. Just about every time I say something positive, a day or so later, something happens that tries to destroy me.

So, what now? Well, not sure. As most of you know I am doing the 5k Family Safari this Friday at Disney World. I'm not sure if this is just the thing I need or the last thing I need right now. I guess we'll find out.

Till Next Time...Take Care!!!

Byron,

You're essentially where you were on Aug 1. Now I know we all have bad times, but not 5 months straight! It's obvious that whatever methods you've been using are not working. I'd suggest a daily "revealing" of your exercise and food intake (kind of like Jeff W. does). At least that way, you'd have to think, "Man, I'm going to have to post that I ate THIS tomorrow."

What happened to the Monte Sano runs, etc. that you were doing? You can let things get into your head and convince you that you don't "feel" like exercising, but your health should be one of the most important factors as well and should always be a priority. I mean, if this 45 year old geezer can get out every day, surely you young whippersnapper can too.

I've not had 5 months of "bad times". I've had 5 months of stupidity (not doing what I needed to do) followed by 2 weeks of hell.

It is not a matter of methods that fail...it's a matter of methods at all.

Byron,
I don't know what is going on in your world to make you so down. :( Getting out and doing something even if it is walking is better than not doing anything at all.It will help relieve the stress.
I won't be there for the 5k,We will be arriving on Saturday morning early enough to see the 1/2 M start. Are you going to go to Lou's meet at 2p?
Bryan is having a meet slash dinner at 4:15p at the Liberty tree.Go over and e mail him if you want to join us.
If you need to talk I am a good listener.OR even send an e mail.
KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!!!

Byron,
It seems like you've got something here that you're not taking full advantage of: Friends who care! Best support system in the world, and much cheaper than therapy. You've got my cell number - feel free to reach for the phone instead of that stress-induced snack (believe me, I understand!) or if you just want to talk. Good luck at the 5K. I will be cheering you on from here, because I know you can do it and you WILL reach your goals!

I saw on Rae's blog that you are in a down time, and we've all been there!

I used to beat myself up when I stumbled, but I learned to tell myself it's one day at a time, one meal at a time, one decision at a time -- and now I believe it.

Unfortunately, we can't change years of bad habits very easily -- bummer. Now when I stumble, it's NO BIG DEAL. It's one day (or 14 days), but the next day is a NEW ONE and you can make good decisions that day.

Every good day that you have is SO much better than what you used to do. And those good days do add up!

So put aside the PAST -- it's irrelevant now. Tomorrow can be a good day -- just make a few good decisions -- one at a time!

You can do this -- you are part of Team Voice -- and I don't think the team is inclined to let any of us fail!

And enjoy the 5K -- you'll be at Disney World and you'll be walking in the sunshine in our most favorite magical place!
