Well, no real Monday update this week.
My weight has been all over the place since I hurt my back on Saturday. Saturday morning I was at 317. Monday morning I was at 323, and midday Monday I was back down to 320. I have come to find out that an injury like mine can cause your body to retain water as it fights to recover. I can tell in how my watch fits and how my shoes fit that my wrists and feet are swollen.
I could post a number, but I don't think it would mean anything. So, I'm going to hold off till next Monday and hopefully post a good number to finish June!!
As far as my back goes......it hurts!! I have come to learn that the one thing that most people do when they have back pain is the worst thing you can do. Several people that I've spoken to about this have said that I should immediatly put myself on complete bed rest with a heating pad. Turns out that complete bed rest in my case is really the worst thing I could do. The consensus amoung the medical sights (WebMD, etc) and people that have had a history of back problems is to stay active and ice the area and take an NSAID (ie, Motrin, Advil, etc) as needed. So, I'm trying to get up and move around for 10-15 minutes every hour or so.

Stopped dead in my tracks!!!
Stopped dead...that's what happened to me yesterday. In addition to our house we own a lot not far from our current house. Every so often I have to mow it. Normally I have to mow it every 3-5 weeks, but since we are 18 inches behind in rain for the year, it's been 2 months since I last mowed it. Our lot is over an acre and because of the height of the grass, it takes 2-3 hours to mow. It was at the end of that 2-3 hours where things went "bad"....
I had just finished mowing with the tractor, which means I'm pretty much done. There's one little spot, about 15ft square, that I have to push mow. I finished that spot just fine and was about to knock down some extra growth along the curb. I bent down to change the height of the mower deck....AND FROZE.....IN PAIN!!!! I all the sudden had this major sharp pain in my lower back. I was able to stand back up and give myself a few seconds to "evaluate" the situation. I tried again, and same thing. At this point I called it quits, and called for help.
I felt a little better after I had a chance to make my way home and soak in a HOT bath. However, when I woke up this morning, I could barely move. Right now, I'm doing better again and now doing the right things to take care of the pain. (Turns out that light "exercise" and staying active is much better for back pain than pure rest.)
The most frustrating part of all this is not being able to get out and doing my routine. It's one thing to be able to exercise and choose not to....it's a completely different story to want to and not be able!! ARGH!!!! Just as I'm getting back into the swing of things and this happens.
On a more positive note... I'm anticipating a good result tomorrow morning. However, I just don't know how today will effect it.

Change is good!!!!! Right?!!
Yes, I was up 1.5 on Monday. But, I also said that I wouldn’t be surprised if I was right back down Tuesday or Wednesday. Well, I was right. Yesterday (Tuesday), I was back down to 319.5. It just goes to show how careful you must be with the nubmer the scale gives you when you weigh yourself. You have to take into consideration the specific meals that you’ve have in the preceding couple of days. If they were higher in sodium, your body will soak up and hold water like a sponge for a few days afterward. And, that’s exactly what I did.
I’ve been able to push myself to do my “training” a couple days in the last week. I can tell I’ve lost a little from the long layoff. I was especially pleased with last night. The muscles in the front of my lower legs were burning, but that’s to be somewhat expected. I did learn that there are times when breathing through your nose is extremely important. Let’s just says that SWARMS of gnats will get that point across very quick.
Change is coming… Not only am I “refocusing” to change my body, but I’m also in the process of changing a few things with the blog. I’ve purchased the phatdisneygeek.com domain and am working to incorporate that with the blog. So, one of the first things you’ll notice will be phatdisneygeek.blogspot.com will redirect you to the phatdisneygeek.com domain. I’m also working on some ideas for the phatdisneygeek.com website. Of course, there will be a link from that site to the blog, but I’ve also got some other things brewing that I plan to do with the site. One of the things that I know I will be adding is my exercise log. Not only can I use it as accountability (as mgreene suggested), but it will also make it easier for me to keep up with how I’m doing.
I know I haven’t been good about non-Monday posts, but I hope that this is a sign of things to come. I’m going to go back in my previous posts a dig out the ideas I’ve mentioned and actually post them. I am I am I am!!!! (That was for me!)

I was tempted to not post anything for this week. But, I decided that I'm not going to hide from this. I will say that I'm not at all surprised by the results this morning. And, I also won't be surprised if I'm right back down tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm still feeling the effects of our trip to Georgia this weekend. Cracker Barrel, mexican and Ruby Tuesday all within a 24 hour period. YIKES!!!
I have a request. I need some ideas of how to get up in the morning. Have you strugled to get out of bed when the alarm clock goes off? What do you do?

Well, another week down and not much change. But, at least what change I did have was in the right direction.
(Scratching head)...........I don't have much else to offer at the moment except that I'm still stuck in my rut of not exercising.
OH!!! I just remembered....this last Saturday I went to a family reunion. Unlike some, family reunions in our family are good occasions that we all look forward too. As I was talking to one of my cousins about what I'm doing and how it appeared that she had done the same, she told me that she has gotten into running. In fact, she is looking to do the Country Music 1/2 Marathon next year. She is from the Nashville area so it has a special meaning for her. Now, the question is can I get myself ready for the 2008 CMM 1/2? Not only would I be able to line up with my Tagrel friends but I could line up with my cousin!!!!
JUST DO IT! JUST DO IT! JUST DO IT! JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!

All right!!! 0.5lb for the week!! Now were going somewhere!!!
And Oooooooooooo!!! 1 whopping pound for the month of May.
Do I sound a little annoyed? Good, because I am! And, it's not because of all the hard work with little results. Hardly!! It's because of a lack of work on my part. "Well, your body naturally plateaus from time to time." Hogwash!!!!! Not is this case. The low numbers are a direct result of what I've chosen to do (and not do) over the last month or so. So, if you're one to offer the "plateau" reasoning, please don't make an excuse for me that I'm not making for myself.
Ok, then, what to do about it? Simple. JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!
